Get real about your time.

Be honest with yourself and create a schedule, because there is no better way to tank your plans than to keep the blindfold on and continue bumping around in the dark.

Where do you spend your time? How much do you actually have available?

Many of my clients don’t start out being clear on their time. They have gotten themselves into a paralyzing routine with a story that they just can’t seem to make enough time for anything because they are Just. So. Busy.

Or, they have a feeling that something might be killing their days but they just aren’t sure what.

As part of the program I have developed for growing businesses, I have each business owner religiously monitor all their activities for a week or two. What comes out of that exercise can be very powerful.

And I don’t mean for productivity. I am of the opinion that most grown ups can figure out how to make the best use of their time using many techniques available to them.

What I am looking for are what your time patterns can reveal.

How you prioritize your time leads to answers around how your business model should be structured.

The amount of time you spend with clients gives me information about how to design your offers.

Where and when we should be looking to get you some help to drive out profitability.

If a part of your business is using so much of your time that it just doesn’t make sense to retain it.

How long it’s taking you to get a new customer, and therefore where we need to shift your sales strategies.

And so on.

But these major shifts can’t be made until you get real about your time. Until you open the kimono and look closely (cringing) at exactly how much you’ve got to play with and where you’ve been allocating what remains. Until you watch and track your patterns in excruciating detail.

Listen, I hate tracking my time. I hate it. But I’ve been able to find so many answers when I have, and make some pretty important shifts towards alignment.

Depending on your business, there will be an optimal balance across all your time buckets to lead you to the results you want. ⠀

Tell me in the comments…

Are you getting real about your time?⠀
