“I needed someone to remind me that the power was inside me all along.”

“I needed someone to remind me that the power was inside me all along.”
Sometimes it’s easy to get stuck thinking of ourselves in terms of what we spend most of our time talking about. The practical stuff. The tangible stuff. The things that we think about day and night.
“I’m a ___________ and I do _________”
But the most powerful and memorable things are often not the actual tasks we are undertaking but are instead the ways we make people feel as a result of the way we deliver our work.
Like my client, quoted above.
As a result of the way in which I delivered my services, she remembers not just coming out of our session with a new business model, but that she realized how capable and powerful she was, and that the power was within her to do what she dreamed of doing.
So, while I provide my clients with business design and strategy, those are almost secondary to the confidence and clarity that they receive.
Knowing this, I need to ensure that when I’m talking about my services, I focus on what I make my clients feel. Empowered, confident, certain, relieved. Because any old sparklepreneur can ruminate on your business strategy but are you going to leave that session feeling the same way? That, my loves, is the truth teller.
When you’re shopping for service providers to help you with important things, talk to some current and past clients. Ask them not about the quality of the work, or the logistics. Ask them how they made them feel.
Do their eyes light up with a memory of that turning point where they finally saw their future? Do they hesitate and look away for a second, or seem to be searching for an answer? No matter what their website copy says, no service provider can accurately communicate another client’s experience like that client can.

Tell me in the comments…
What was a great example of how a service provider made you feel, that you will never forget? Why was this so particularly important? How can you do the same in your business?
