If I Can’t See You, I Can’t Buy Your Thing
I’m not advocating for being an annoying oversharer, but if you want to become a known brand at the very front of your customer’s mind, you need to be as present as that drinking buddy who loves a frequent pint, and you need to make your customer feel as good as that friend.⠀
If I Can’t See You, I Can’t Buy Your Thing
Meaning, if you’re not visible, how can I know that you’re going to solve my burning problem or make me smile harder today?
Business owners know about visibility. They know what it means and, generally, what it entails.
What they consistently underestimate is how much and how often.
Your potential customers are busy, just like you are. They see metric gazillions of messages every day. You appear in their conscience for a fraction of a minute before they are on to other things.
Obviously, a fraction of a minute is unlikely to make them buy (though it happens, for sure, albeit infrequently).
Many fractions of minutes over time will lead them to buy. We are creatures of association and relationship.
While I don’t know KNOW that launch coach throwing emails in my box every second day, I sure as hell know who she is at this point.
Maybe I don’t need a launch coach right now but when the time does come, guess who I will be looking up? Because she has firmly implanted herself in my brain with an association to that particular need.
Then there is the health coach who I can’t for the life of me remember signing up to hear from and because she only shows up occasionally, I have to look her up when she does to try and remember why I cared in the first place.
She will not be the first person I think of when I need some health.
Now, I’m not advocating for being an annoying oversharer, but if you want to become a known brand at the very front of your customer’s mind, you need to be as present as that drinking buddy who loves a frequent pint, and you need to make your customer feel as good as that friend.
Who would you hire when you need something badly?
The drinking buddy or the random Yellow Pages ad?
Step out and step up, and don’t be afraid to be twice as present. If your message doesn’t offend and you demonstrate your intention and skill, you will become known, trusted and safe.
