Learn Your Worth

Tonight, I facilitated group sessions for 45 entrepreneurial women in my town. I presented and lead discussions on alignment in your business and how it’s so critical to your success.

The ladies were amazing, the discussion was heartfelt and inquisitive, and I had many thoughtful comments from business owners who were working through all the things that business owners do, at some point or another.

I was inspired by these ladies, and pleasantly surprised to see how much entrepreneurial growth my little town has had over the last couple of years.

When we were done, the organizers presented the coaches with beautiful flower arrangements in appreciation of our time. The fragrance is filling up the room as I write and will likely linger for days, reminding me of tonight’s inspiration.

The flowers are beautiful and such a kind and thoughtful gift, but the bigger gift was the invitation to share mine and see how impactful it could be to so many of these ladies.

When we don’t step out of our day-to-day work, we become part of our own stories, which meander along, slowly spiralling in on themselves as we watch what others do, compare ourselves to them, and second guess our own strategies and tactics.

The trouble is, we naturally put ourselves in a particular “class” within our industry, judging our position and place in that environment. Because we are increasing driven towards progress and improvement, we work on what’s lagging and eventually move again up the ladder to a new rung.

Eventually, we’ve climbed way, way up yet we’re still judging ourselves by the world we consider ourselves to be in. We never stop to give ourselves credit for how far we’ve come.

Until one night you get invited by surprise flower-toting peers to tell your community all that you know and they extend their hands, wanting more and more of what you’ve got all wrapped up in that busy head.

When your audience is lining up for more of what you’ve got, and you’re floored and shocked at their reception, it’s time to recognize your worth. It’s time to acknowledge how freaking much you’ve accomplished and how meaningful it is to those you serve.

Tell me in the comments…

When was the last time you received unexpected accolades?
