The Only One Keeping a List of Challenges Is You

So what do you do with that nasty list of challenges?

The Only One Keeping a List of Challenges Is You

Everyone else around you, watching, is fully expecting you to fly. Because they know what you are capable of, and they are excited about your opportunities.

What would happen if you tried to see you like they do?

What would happen if you saw the clear path without anticipating the bumps?

Would they even appear, or would they be lost with your doubts?

I was speaking with a client just a couple of days ago. We were kicking off her first session of our 6 months together and we were plowing through her business model with ease, until we reached a part she wasn’t confident with.

All of a sudden, instead of the fluidity with which she rambled off commentary on her business, she became an encyclopedia of every reason in the world that she had yet to be able to have success in this one area.

She knew this list so well that she could recite it without thinking. It had become her constant companion and her safety blanket. Which is ironic, right? It wasn’t keeping her safe.

That list had likely grown from one item that remained insurmountable long enough that when another came along, she had permission to admit defeat. And then – snowball! The weight of the challenges rooted her firmly where she was, never to move forward until she finally got shaken up and out of it.

See, each challenge in that list was, in itself, negligible. Some even non-existent, because we often equate “not knowing” with “can’t do”.

But as a whole? A great big excuse for delayed progress.

So what do you do with that nasty list of challenges?

Burn it.
Feed it to the goat.
Line the cat box with it.

It’s doing nothing but keeping you where you are.

When you catch yourself raising an objection to your next move, ask yourself “How do you know?”. If you can answer that question with confidence, ask yourself how you might try differently. If you don’t know the answer, then it’s time to find out what will happen.

I bet you find you can cross that challenge off your list in short order.

Tell me in the comments…

What challenges are holding you back right now? Are you certain they are real, or are they just unknown?
