There Are Many Pathways To Success

There are many pathways to success, whatever your chosen definition of success is (and this will shift over time).

This is good news because every one of us is likely to work best in different ways, with different combinations of all the things we need to be right.

In the days of yesteryear (yes, I just said ‘yesteryear’), there was one path and one definition of success. If you didn’t strive for that same goal and excel along that same path, you were unlikely to be held in the same esteem as those that did.

What makes our current business environment so freaking fantastic is that the Internet apocalypse of business stagnation blew that world up into tiny molecules and now we’ve got a kaleidoscope of opportunities, reflecting on splinters of the old world.

What’s more, every day new paths and new successes are being forged, and as we mature, we see how doable that crazy vision you’ve got is.

In this world we’re in, being an outlier is an advantage. In fact, status quo is a death knell. Hyper differentiation has taken over and we are all trying to be unique.

Yes, that starts to cause some issues when labels and identifiers become insane and non-sensical (“Glitterpreneur”? Really?), but I believe in common sensibilities eventually taking hold and rewarding the true innovation.

When you’ve been around long enough, like me, this gets exciting because the earth is fertile for enabling anyone to make a vision come true, with a little help and experience.

Imagine each business owner on their own pedestal, beaming broadly at the achievement of their own brand of success, happier than anything that they made their current dream come true.

Follow your instinct and do what feels right. Toss aside what’s been done before and piece together what could be. You’ll get there, just like anyone else can.

And, not only that, you’ll have an amazing and unique story to tell about your journey to where you are.

Until your next goal, when you’ll start all over again on a whole new journey.

Tell me in the comments…

What does success look like for you right now? How has your path looked different from others? What are you dying to try that’s outside of the “norm”?
