When It’s Right, It’s Easy

When I work with my clients, the first things we identify are their goals, vision and values. These must anchor any decisions we make about their business, and their business model must work to support these in return.

When It’s Right, It’s Easy

I had three coaching calls today. Normally, I don’t work on the weekends but for various reasons, a few clients needed some special arrangements so today was an exception.⠀

Normally, five hours of calls would leave me exhausted and unable to form words. But today I was exhilarated! I was excited for my clients and the progress we had made.⠀

Ask me how often I felt that way as a corporate consultant. It wasn’t often and became less and less frequent as the years wore on.⠀

I love doing strategy work. Love. It’s the perfect intersection of my skills, my passion and my experience. I get energized by unravelling my clients’ stories and experiences to find the solution that fits them perfectly. I feel like I’m in on a big secret because I get paid to do this!

When I work with my clients, the first things we identify are their goals, vision and values. These must anchor any decisions we make about their business and their business model must work to support these back. Otherwise, we have a misaligned business that will always feel wrong.⠀

Imagine if you believed strongly in sustainable and eco-friendly products but your business involved making disposable plastic packaging. You would be in conflict all the time and would have trouble putting energy and passion in to your work.⠀

Imagine if you believed strongly in supporting female artists but your business involved serving male mathematicians (for the record, I would love to work with math men!). Would you wake up every day dragging your feet? Probably.⠀

Take a look at your business. Is there alignment between your vision and your strategy? Is there alignment between your offers and your customers? Do you leave every call, every sale with excitement and a buzz or is this just another way to make some money? ⠀

You don’t have to swim upstream. If business feels that hard, it’s time to realign.

Tell me in the comments…

Do you feel like your business supports your vision? Is there strong alignment between what you want and what you’ve created?⠀
